On to a better future with Pearl Academy

When we talk about formal education in fashion, only a handful of names strikes at the back of our minds. And this premiere institute which is known for nurturing creative individuals would be the first one on your lips.

Fashion is an art. You cannot mug up a tad bit of rules and expect yourself to be a successful fashionista/designer. Every art needs passion as its fuel so that one can work hard and hustle towards their dreams. The internal drive to move things is important. But what if we don’t get the right mentoring and support? Do you think it’s still possible to go any further?

I actually feel it’s always great to take inspiration, to find the right mentor and support which can make a difference in your life. Had I been more aware of the opportunities and my liking towards fashion, I would have acted on it more seriously and would have chosen to pursue my formal studies in this space.

From my personal experience, I feel that not everyone can push you to work and explore your passion for arts. Not everyone has the knowledge or the patience to support you in such creative fields. Only a few people know what art is about, and the rarest of rare can actually motivate you to pursue it and push its boundaries.
While we are on the subject, let me tell you that I was luckily invited by Pearl Academy to see the work of individuals who are trained by these distinguished faculties. I saw and experienced how these mentored creative individuals are taking steps to get our country on the global map in the field of Fashion. There was no chance that I would have said no for this opportunity.

Pearl Academy, one of the most prestigious fashion institutions in India in design, fashion, businesses, and media has been a catalyst for the success of the students across creative industries for over two decades.

On 4th May 2017, School of Creative Business from Pearl Academy hosted the event at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi where over 200 graduating students gathered to showcase their projects and ideas through an exhibition which literally blew my mind. I learned about the idea of clothing that works as a mosquito repellent with little or no difference from the usual prices of the clothes we already wear. They can also be washed by hands or machine just like any other regular piece of clothing and it’s absolutely safe for both children and adults.

I also got to witness some impressive personalities and nothing better than to hear it straight from the horse’s mouth. Right?

Mr.Jayant, Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Padma Bhushan Dr. M.B. Athreya Indian Author, Educationist & Management Advisor graced the opening of the event with their set of inspiring words.

Appreciating the bright ideas from the students, Mr. Jayant Sinha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation said,

I am delighted to see the student work and their creative business ideas. The creative business and luxury market offers huge potential for these students to be successful in their chosen domains. This generation of budding entrepreneurs is thinking about building a global size business and have those benchmarks. It is important to plan scalable business ideas to succeed. I am sure with all the brilliant training and education that you have got at Pearl Academy, all of you will play a significant role in what we call as making of a ‘New India’.

It was yet another day of enlightenment for me when School of Design from Pearl Academy showcased next gen in ‘Design’ to Industry experts at Hyatt Regency on May 6th, 2017. Over 275 students participated showcasing some of the most innovative and ingenious design projects there could be. They also held ‘Design Conversations’ with industry experts and design professionals from different creative industries.

I interacted with students who were driving these projects. One of them was designing a bicycle studio and cafe where people could come and chill while their cycles got the needed pampering. His inspiration behind the concept was the growing trend of cyclists in India. It was designed so intellectually that no wonder if these students got the opportunity, India would be a ‘developed’ country very soon. The other one which really caught my attention was a project where a student had planned to refurbish a branch of Radisson Blu taking inspiration from Fatehpur Sikhri. So, her idea was to redesign the structure with royal and rich cultural vibes.

Summing up those two days of interaction, I can confirm that the students got the right motivational and appreciative support from the attendees and panelists, just the kinds one needs to continue on their path of creative expression.
