If you are a fashion enthusiast and have not heard about India Runway Week, you have been living under a rock! Regarded as one of the top fashion week platforms in India, India Runway Week or IRW is a biannual trade event, specializing in showcasing young emerging fashion designers. This year I blocked my calendar from 20^th to 22^nd April to attend the much-awaited Summer Edition of the franchise held in DLF Mall of India in Saket, New Delhi.

India Runway Week happens to be Asia’s youngest fashion trade extravaganza. The much-awaited IRW not only gives a platform to established and emerging designers but propel fresh designers to the stage to share their concepts and ideas through their work. 

Interaction with new designers and ideas of emerging talent always gives me inspiration for my own blog. The fresh concepts are a motivation to work on newer ideas and take inspiration to incorporate into my own work. It could be as simple as a new way of draping fabric to as complex as incorporating a whole collection into your own work, it was for sure a learning experience.

Speaking of new trends, I was particularly looking forward to the display of RIG- Utility Clothing, which took place on 21st April 2018. What personally intrigues me about RIG is their brand philosophy- ‘keeping the search alive within’. True to this ideology, their collection showcases casual and relaxed in a perfect blend of passionate and daring.

Their whole collection in the IRW had an understated comfortable look, without going overboard to exaggerate ‘cool’ or ‘macho’. The entire design range spoke of a dynamic appeal of freedom of breathable fabric used to make their apparel.

Personally, I felt Rig’s clothing was unique in style without trying too hard to fit into the trend if you know what I mean? It was a whole different perception of comfort that went beyond form and function. Inspired by nature and it’s elements, RIG- Utility Clothing, forgoes denim and formalwear, but incorporates raw textures and a rugged look to its creations.

From what I could gather, the designs aimed at to put an individual at ease in all walks of life, be it in a closed confined workplace or an outdoor expedition. The strong fabric with their firm stitches portrays functionality in all scenarios. The best part I felt, was a showcase of urban design elements and style that found a way in their wide range of outfits.

The experience, all in all, was very enriching. I truly appreciate how they have showcased their concept based on sustainability and comfort, making it very customer friendly without letting go of the thought of it.
